Duties at the Development Level: The incumbent serves in a developmental capacity at the GS-11 grade level. Key functions will be similar to those described at the full performance level of the target position. However, during the developmental assignment, full performance range and level of selected functions will not be completely delegated to the employee until proper orientation and training have been completed and the incumbent has demonstrated the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to accomplish the work at the full performance level.
Duties at the Full Performance Level GS 12: Duties Include the following:
- Oversees all functions related to healthcare providers' professional credentials supporting all divisions of the VAMC (i.e. full time, part time, temporary, intermittent, contract, without compensation (WOC) and fee basis) in accordance with VHA Credentialing and Privileging (C&P), Directives, VA Handbooks, Policies, Memos, and Notices; The Joint Commission (TJC) Standards and State and Federal Regulations.
- Responsible for working collaboratively with local and VISN leadership to identify and/or implement best practices and advising VAMC leadership of all program requirements pertaining to the C&P program.
- Ensure quality assurance and provide oversight for the VAMC C&P program.
- Responsible to ensure that the Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and Regulations are reviewed and updated annually (or as needed) to reflect regulations or accreditation standards.
- Serves as the VAMC's Senior Technical Advisor and as the primary consultant and liaison to the VISN C&P Officer.
- Outlines VAMC C&P program goals and objectives, identifies risks, supervises all VAMC C&P employees, ensures training and education, and completes second level reviews as appropriate.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
