The IT Specialist (Customer Support) Tech administers, develops, delivers and supports information technology (IT) systems and services. The paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; e.g., data storage, software applications, and networking. Characteristic information technology assignments in the Customer Support specialization at this pay band include:
Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities.
Utilizes multiple software programs and tools, including SharePoint, Outlook, Remedy, remote tools, WDS (Windows Deployment Services) and WIM imaging to provide efficient desktop operating system and application support. Applies understanding of Lean Six Sigma and Project Management principles to aid in gaining, standardizing and documenting efficiency increases through automation of processes.
Demonstrates independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish assignments and projects. May also perform duties as Contracting Officer Representative.
Provides guidance to lower-level technical staff on how to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention. Often develops and recommends techniques to address problem situations.

To qualify for this position at the FV-I (FG/GS-13) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS 10-12) level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Experience in Desk Side support and implementation; makes recommendation to management on Information Technology (IT) procedures and guidelines; experience using information technology infrastructure library (ITIL) software; experience in system design and integration; experience in IT project management; develops new methods and criteria and/or propose new policies and practices; oversees support of installed systems and services; identifies current and potential problem areas; analyzes customer requirements; plans and coordinates the design, development, testing, installation, and support of new/modified systems, including hardware and software applications.
