Serves as manager of comprehensive Health Benefits Section within the Health Admin Service (HAS). Duties include but not limited to:
- Provides support to the Chief/Assistant Chief HAS, concerning patient administration and legal eligibility for care issues. Responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, directing, and controlling the overall activities of the Health Benefits Section within HAS which is designed to support comprehensive patient administration activities.
- Major program responsibilities within the Ambulatory Care Section are summarized as follows: Enrollment, Registration (Means Tests), Comprehensive Eligibility for Health Care Benefits, Pre-registration, Admissions/Discharge, Ambulance and Beneficiary Travel, Special Program Examinations (Agent Orange, Ionizing Radiation, Persian Gulf, POW), Death Details, Patient Funds, Mail Center Operations, Applicable Fund Control Management, Applicable VISTA Program Management, Publications Management, & Outreach Programs.
- Responsible for analyzing the admin workflow and problems to establish and develop operational procedures to ensure proper functioning of all organizational components. Responsible for all matters pertaining to entitlement and eligibility for comprehensive medical benefits to include controlling and coordinating the activities related to reception, registration, admission, check-in, enrollment, eligibility determination, and the entry and reporting of related workload activity.
- Participates with the Chief/Asst Chief, HAS in planning, implementing, and evaluating all programs relative to administrative support services, including systematic review, monitoring of performance improvement, space utilization, equipment management, and systems analysis.
- Responsible for supervising administrative staff including interviews and selections for vacant positions, leave approval, providing coverage in the scheduled absence of employees. Identifies, coordinates, and conducts training in leadership, work management, performance evaluation, patient and medical records processing, workload data entry and reporting, enrollment and eligibility, comprehensive registration, and other related patient administration activities. Maintains training schedules and standard operating procedures.
