Subject matter expert in the installation, maintenance and certification of airport communications equipment and facility maintenance systems found in the National Airspace System (NAS). Applies knowledge of and skill using Air Traffic Organization (ATO) operational safety initiatives and the Safety Management System (SMS) principles to serve as an authority on quality assurance efforts to improve risk reduction processes for Technical Operations. This work is critical to the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS).
Applies skill and experience applying multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary scientific principles, qualitative methods, and modeling to identify trends and nuances in complex NAS operational safety data. Monitors and conducts on-sight and desk audits/assessments of data driven indicators to verify the validity of collected data trends by applying knowledge of the Risk Analysis Program, and provides advice and insight about the probable effects of risk reduction efforts. Uses experience reviewing and categorizing Service Integrity Mandatory Occurrence Reports (SI-MORs) to evaluate, identify and quantify operational risk of a technical nature. Uses experience analyzing and interpreting FAA Orders and policies such as JO7210.632, Air Traffic Organization Occurrence Reporting; JO7210.633, Air Traffic Organization Quality Assurance Program; and JO7210.634, Air Traffic Organization Quality Control, to review incidents and to recommend changes to policies.
As an SMS technical expert, revises and updates internal Standard Operating Procedures and internal review processes. As a senior project manager, participates in and leads teams responsible for analyzing and assessing System Service Reviews (SSR) and Systemic Issue Reviews (SYSIR) at the national level. Contacts are routinely internal and external to AJI. Internal contacts are with peers, and senior management to discuss the status projects/programs and to conduct future planning.
External contacts include the aviation industry and other FAA organizations. Represents AJI as the primary point of contact on issues related to Technical Operations Safety Integration issues and may represent the Directorate on Service Area Quality Control Groups. Makes commitments for AJI, to establish new policies/procedures, and to make exceptions within the assigned area of responsibility. Formulates and recommends positions to senior management and uses discretion to ensure the alignment of projects/programs with the short term and tactical objectives of Safety and Technical Training. The Team Manager typically reviews work for success in achieving results.
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I, FG/GS-13 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
