HRLDs recently completed work includes reports on who was uninsured in 2019 and why and on policies to achieve near-universal health insurance coverage. The division is also carefully following the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on health care spending, insurance coverage, and disparities in who has been affected. The successful candidate will contribute to developing new studies and to designing and improving the state-of-the-art analytical models that underlie them. Analysts are also encouraged to turn projects and independent research into CBO working papers and outside publications.
Tier 1 clearance
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in economics or a related discipline, or a masters degree in economics or a related discipline along with at least three years of equivalent experience. In addition, applicants should have some experience in health policy analysis, either as a student or through employment. They should have strong quantitative skills, experience using large data files, an in-depth knowledge of at least one programming language, and an interest in the development of microsimulation models. Applicants should also be able to initiate and complete research projects, both independently and with a team; be able to clearly present their work orally and in writing to nontechnical audiences; and want to work on issues of current or potential legislative interest to the Congress.
