Serves as the Marine Corps Family Team Building (MCFTB) Program Manager; Family Readiness Branch; Marine and Family Programs Division, Manpower and Reserve Affairs Department, Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC). Serves as the responsible point of contact for oversight, interpretation and development of related policy, plans, processes, procedures and programs of MCFTB including Family Readiness Program Training; Readiness and Deployment Support Training; LifeSkills Training and Education, and Lifestyle Insights Networking Knowledge and Skills. Additionally, manages program funding for Chaplain Religious Enrichment Development Operations (CREDO).
Researches and provides information regarding impacts of mission, life and career events on personal and family readiness of Marines and their families. Develop programs and training curriculum that enables self-sufficient and resilient Marines and family members to be capable of sustaining the rigors of the military lifestyle. Curriculum includes instructor led and computer-based training. Research current trends and initiatives within the Marine Corps to determine specific needs for targeted audiences, and gaps in curriculum. Work in collaboration with other sections within Marine and Family programs to develop correlating curriculum that can be used for Marines, spouses and family members.
Conducts reviews and recommends approval or disapproval of MCFTB plans and materials; analyzes and develops proposals or provisions in terms of impact on program resources requirements; develops new and revised operating procedures and standards for policy and planning to incorporate new and updated provisions that affect operating activities and requirements; conducts review of the administration and operation of the program, and provides advice.
Coordinates and promotes programmatic goals and objectives, provides information, explains regulatory and legal requirements, and builds and sustains business strategies and practices. Identifies and solves problems related to implementation of MCFTB plans and policies, develops metrics, develops and implements solutions, designs alternative initiatives and establishes minimum standards. May develop briefings, correspondence, plans, procedures, and directives to support implementation of higher level command directives.
Reviews proposed changes to MCFTB plans and project proposals to see that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met and to insure that changes do not include provisions contrary to basic law when applicable. Identifies provisions clearly not consistent with federal requirements and recommends remedial action necessary to correct inadequacies. Provides assistance on facilitating compliance with policy and plans to other program specialists who develop the program evaluation plan, determine coverage, suggest methodology, and provide guidance on handling of technical problems and public relations issues.
Supervises employee(s) to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action.
EVALUATIONS:
BACHELOR’S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in field appropriate to the work of position AND THREE YEARS of experience that demonstrates knowledge of and experience in military family readiness OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above.
