The incumbent is responsible for supporting the development, exercise, testing, evaluation, and implementation of FAA Emergency Operations Plans, including the FAA Continuity of Operations (COOP), at the National and Regional level. Support the Division Manager, Division staff, and FAA leadership in satisfying various requirements for the below responsibilities and other tasks as assigned.
Supports coordination with the Department of Transportation to ensure the FAA can address Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements during an incident of National significance, this includes coordinating resources both internally and externally to support operations at DOT’s primary and alternate headquarters.
Supports the FAA headquarters Emergency Incident Coordinator (EIC) and will serve, as required, as Assistant EIC for National Special Security Events (NSSE), significant incidents, or exercises.
Prepares FAA national-level Spot Reports and Situation Reports for National Special Security Events, significant incidents, or exercises, which are reviewed by leadership prior to issuance.
Demonstrates an understanding of legislative processes and requirements, to anticipate requests for information from Senior Officials and members of Congress, and assist in the formulation of responses to those inquiries in a timely manner.
Contributes to the development of FAA emergency operations plans, orders, playbooks and exercise documents.
Assists in development of quick reports, after-action reports, lessons learned and improvement plans following incident response, COOP exercises and real-world incidents, and tracks improvement plan implementation. Contributes to the development of systems and technology to enhance FAA emergency response operations and as required, deploys to support FAA response to events and to ensure continuity of operations. Supports relevant business plan development.
Supports FAA operations in a steady state, incident response, recovery/reconstitution or continuity environment by ensuring Senior FAA officials have timely and relevant information to support decision making by senior leadership.

Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments, but allow considerable discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es) or develop new approaches. Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.
Work may involve shift work on an as-needed basis to support surge requirements during exercises, significant incidents, or national emergencies.
Candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV-H or FG/GS-12) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
