Duties typically include planning, communicating the organization's vision and objectives, setting priorities, assigning tasks and responsibilities, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching and developing employee capabilities, approving leave, and taking, recommending, or approving corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate. • Applies an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, an advanced knowledge of budget, personnel, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an advanced understanding of the objectives of the organization. • Directs the maintenance and operations of NAS High Impact Facility (ARTCC/Large TRACON/ selected Operational Evolution Plan (OEP) Airports) or System Support Centers (SSC) within a geographical area. Has full responsibility for overall administrative and technical direction of the assigned workforce consisting of General NAS/OEP managers, System Support Center (SSC) managers, specialists, technicians, and support staff involved in providing NAS Services to EnRoute/Terminal air traffic control, commercial airlines and general aviation aircraft. • Serves as the District Facilities Manager at the facility and provides equivalent level interface with the EnRoute/Terminal Services facility manager as well as principal stakeholders and customers outside the FAA. The organizational span of control impacts a large segment of the flying public, the aviation industry, and business commerce. Reports directly to the District Facility District Manager. • Defines, acquires, and allocates budget, staff, and other resources necessary to accomplish the goals and/or objectives of the organization. Participates in the planning and execution of organizational goals utilizing strategic planning and sound management principles in order to accomplish mission objectives.
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-J, FG/GS-14. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience may include but is not limited to: leading or managing diverse work groups, planning and communicating organizational strategic goals, objectives, and expectations; applying complex technical knowledge of air traffic control procedures, operations, and traffic management; and serving as program/project manager on initiatives related to airspace and air traffic.
