Basic Education Requirement: In order to qualify for entry into the NP-1306 series, you must have a Bachelor's or more advanced degree in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus; OR, a combination of education and experience -- courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described above.
The following education may be substituted in lieu of experience in order to meet the minimum qualifications for this position:
NP-02 level: A Bachelor's or more advanced degree in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus; OR, a combination of education and experience -- courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described above.
NP-03 level: A Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in natural science or engineering that included coursework in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and/or calculus. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work; OR, a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
