-Clean visitor center, offices, restrooms, storerooms, public use areas, work areas, etc. using industrial type vacuums, as well as various chemicals and cleaning solutions to clean and maintain wood, tile and linoleum floors, carpets, walls and ceiling surfaces.
-Keep interior and exterior of assigned areas free of litter and debris.
-Remove snow and ice from walkways and parking areas.
-Operate one or more motor vehicles including pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, crew cab pickup trucks, jeeps, and station wagons which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds.
-Perform operator maintenance such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing the vehicles.
AREA INFORMATION: This position is stationed at the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park located in Northwest Arizona, approximately 60 miles north of Williams and 85 miles Northwest of Flagstaff at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Temperatures range from approximately 85 degrees in the summer to 17 degrees in the winter. Grand Canyon Village has schools K-12, a daycare center, post office, general store, banking facilities, churches, a recreation center, a clinic with resident physicians and several restaurants. The park community consists of some 2,000 people, including employees of the NPS and concessionaires and their family members. There are often employment opportunities for family members in the park and surrounding areas. The park community is small enough that many employees choose to walk or bike from their homes to work. Complete shopping, educational, medical and professional services are available in Williams and Flagstaff. Recreational opportunities include hiking, river rafting, fishing, cross-country and downhill skiing, and golfing in nearby communities.
Permanent employees obtain housing either through a bid system or by assignment into shared furnished quarters. Because of limited housing, when an employees is assigned shared quarters, the park is not able to provide accommodations for family member and pets. This is a Career-Seasonal appointment. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as Career appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work from approximately March to December. You will be in a non-pay status approximately 2 weeks to 6 months depending on funding and mission. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 10,2020.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.

Physical Demands: Moderately heavy physical effort is required when: using ladder and scaffolds to clean walls, ceilings, window, ceiling fixtures, etc.; operating powered equipment; removing cans of or other containers of trash; and occasionally lifts objects weighting over 50 pounds.
