This Vacancy is using the Direct-Hire authority to recruit for positions for which there is a critical hiring need. Using the Office of Personnel Management’s approved government-wide direct hire authorities, agencies may appoint candidates directly to jobs, without regard to the provision of Title 5 U.S.C 3309 through 3318, for which OPM determines that there is a severe shortage of candidates or a critical hiring need.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency’s business processes. The Office of Organizational Policy and Governance (OPG) provides the management and oversight of enterprise Information Technology (IT) strategies, guidance, policies, and agency-wide cybersecurity. This position is located under the Cybersecurity Division (CD) that is responsible for all aspects of USPTO Information Technology (IT) security. This team provides services, which support implementation and continuous monitoring for compliance with IT security policies, Federal Information Processing Standards, and requirements for all information technology used in support of the USPTO.
As a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) you will be responsible for..
Developing, maintaining, and implementing policies and processes that are consistent, effective privacy practices.
Minimizing risks and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of controlled unclassified information (CUI) along with privacy data.
Performing and analyzing information privacy risk assessments with an IT environment.
Establishing and maintaining ongoing processes to track investigations, and reports inappropriate access and disclosure of CUI.
Clarifying and resolving data loss incidents and identity theft issues.
Providing leadership and direction to employees and contractors supporting the execution and implementation of the USPTO Privacy Program.
Overseeing, reviewing, and meeting with managers and executives in the preparation of policy and procedure of materials.
