This job opportunity is located in the Survey Processing Branch (SPB), National Processing Center (NPC), U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This position applies statistical theories, techniques, and methods to quantified information. This position is not included in the bargaining unit.

The individual selected for this position will:
Tour of Duty: Monday through Friday, day shift hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., No various flexible work schedules are available.
Employees are paid 10% night differential for any hours worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Candidates may be required to clear the fingerprint process and initiate the required background investigation prior to final selection.
Time-in-Grade: In addition to specialized experience, you must meet the time in grade requirement. Current and former Federal civilian employees must have held a position at the grade 09 least 52 weeks in the Federal Service for promotion for promotion to the grade 11. Time-in-grade/band requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement unless eligible for special hiring authority or a reinstatement eligible.
Basic Requirements:
A. Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

B. Combination of education and experience - courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.
In addition to meeting the basic entry qualification requirements, applicants must have specialized experience and/or directly related education.
Specialized Experience: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one year of specialized experience that equips you with the skills needed to perform the job duties. This experience must have been equivalent to at least the grade 09 level to meet the qualification requirements in the Federal Service. Examples of experience must have equipped the applicant with a professional knowledge of statistical theories, methods, and techniques as related to quality control such as designing or preparing statistical reports, reviewing and evaluating automation initiatives for development and enhancement, participating in the planning and development of quality control programs, and reviewing procedures for statistical soundness and accuracy.
Education Substitution: GRADE 11: 3 years of progressively higher graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
Education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-graduate education and experience may be used to meet the required specialized experience.

If course content cannot be easily identified from the title of the course as listed on your transcript, you must submit an official course description from the college/university that reflects the content at the time the course was taken or written documentation (documentation must be official school letterhead) from a professor or a school official verifying the content of a course.
