The Nurse Manager (Community Living Center; Long-Term Care/Rehab/Palliative) has the designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the operations of his/her unit, ensuring that subordinate personnel provide quality nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice in a timely manner. Additional responsibilities include sound fiscal and human resource management, effective management of administrative and clinical issues, performance improvement, customer service, patient and employee safety and satisfaction, hiring decisions, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards.
The Nurse Manager (Community Living Center; Long-Term Care/Rehab/Palliative) is responsible for assuring a constant state of readiness related to regulatory bodies. Also for coaching staff, effectively managing employee conduct and performance issues, and completing reports, action plans, and performance evaluations in a timely manner. He/she participates on service and medical center committees and task forces to improve nursing practice and patient care, identifies educational needs of staff and ensures that these needs are addressed. He/she has an integral role in supporting and facilitating student nurse clinical experiences, as well as orienting new Nurse Managers. He/she works in partnership with the union and adheres to EEO principles. The Nurse Manager (Community Living Center; Long-Term Care/Rehab/Palliative) is a part of Patient Services-Nursing leadership team, and cross-covers other Nurse Managers and/or Supervisors as designated in one another's absence.
Community Living Center (CLC) Unit Description;
-35 bed unit that serves long-term, skilled short stay, and hospice veterans
-Includes IV therapy and wound therapy interventions
-Average Patient to Nurse Ratio is 5-7 patients
-A great work environment with a focus on teamwork and quality of life for our patients
-Restorative care to help our patients maintain or improve their level of function is part of our nursing model
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 07:30am-4:00pm with 24/7 accountability
