The Office of Division Counsel Large Business and International (LB&I) provides legal services to the LB&I Division of the IRS. Our taxpayers are corporations, subchapter S corporations, and partnerships with substantial assets. We handle complicated issues of Federal tax law and accounting principles in the context of an expanding global environment. The Paralegal Specialist is responsible for performing a combination of legal assistance tasks in support of the legal activities of the Large Business & International strategic litigation function.

GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: overseeing hard copy and electronic document management during trial preparation and at trial; assisting the attorney in the presentation of a case; assisting in the preparation of paperwork necessary for processing and completion of the case; writing legal memoranda and litigation reports; preparing legal exhibits; conducting information collection and researching statutes and precedents. OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience for this position includes: overseeing hard copy and electronic document management during trial preparation and at trial, including voluminous or electronic documents; assisting the attorney in the presentation of large case litigation; assisting in the preparation of paperwork necessary for processing and completion of the case; writing legal memoranda and litigation reports; preparing legal exhibits; conducting information collection and researching statutes and precedents; experience in electronic legal document management programs is desirable especially in litigation before the U.S. Tax Court. OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
