The BOC is a nationwide benefits and retirement center for the FAA. HRAs are expected to answer calls daily from an 800 number, respond to multiple incoming emails and document thorough notes in a case management system. HRAs average from 30-50 calls per week.
HRAs are expected to develop and present employee educational topics such as during New Employee Orientation, Open Season and separate benefits/retirement topics throughout the year. These may be delivered in-person or through webinars.

Serves as Human Resources Assistant in the Benefits Operations Center (BOC). Assists employees with information concerning retirement benefits, disability, or other types of employee benefit programs such as FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, BENEFEDS, FSAFEDS, etc. Conducts thorough reviews of employee service history, completes deposit/redeposit estimates and retirement estimates. Maintains complete record of work in electronic case management system. Provides a variety of routine assignments under close supervision. The supervisor will provide detailed guidance on non-routine tasks and assignments. Processes federal benefits elections following appropriate regulatory guidelines, including those of an unusually complicated nature, within established timeframes. Assures completeness of files. Responds to phone/email inquiries, determines nature of request and directs to the appropriate staff member, as needed.
Maintain files/records; assists with the coordination of new office policies and systems. Work activities typically support the work of other employees and contribute to the activities of the division and/or teams. Will use various automated systems such as FHR (Retirement Calculator), Microsoft Office, Outlook, HR Case Management System, Avaya phone system, etc. Adhere to daily assigned phone schedule in responding to calls from FAA employees nationwide.

To qualify for this position at the FV-E level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least 6 months of General experience at the FV-D, (FG/GS-3-6) level working in an office setting. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled - OR - High school graduation or equivalent.
To qualify for this position at the FV-F level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least 1 year of specialized experience at the FV-E, (FG/GS-7-8) level working in an office setting. Specialized experience is defined as knowledge of federal retirement benefits, disability, or other types of employees' benefits programs such as FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, etc. Ability to review federal retirement applications to assess appropriate regulatory codes, nature of action codes and appropriate steps to be entered on the request for personnel action. Experience preparing reports for Benefits administration, reviewing and completing deposits and/or re-deposits, as well as an ability to maintain a computerized workload system which includes entering and extracting personnel information. Experience adhering to an established phone schedule where the goal is to resolve the customer inquiry upon first contact.
