The Senior Research Scientist (Ballistics Research) is the Army's leading expert in the field of ballistics. The incumbent will be assigned to the US Army Combat Capabilities Command-Army Research Laboratory, Weapons & Materials Research Directorate, duty station APG, MD. The Senior Research Scientist will serve as an internationally recognized authority, consultant, and advisor to the executive management and the scientific and technical personnel for the US Army Futures Command, CCDC, and other Army organizations within the ballistics research domain. Additionally the incumbent will collaborate with other government agencies, and academic and industry partners on theoretical and experimental problems in ballistics research. The ST will actively perform research and directs team efforts expected to lead to cutting edge theory, modeling, and experimental techniques of such a breakthrough nature, and so critically important to unique, Army/DoD-specific problems, that it drives scientific and technological change, i.e., - new paradigms, ideas and innovations within the fields of launch and flight of projectiles. |
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position requires a minimum of Graduate Degree, preferably Ph.D.

Possession of a Graduate Degree (preferably Ph.D. or equivalent experience) in one of the following disciplines:
Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience with substantial background and experience in an area of related research that represents an advance of major significance for national defense. |
