WHAT DOES AN IRS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ANALYSIS) DO? The Information Technology Specialist (Systems Analysis) [ITS] works with the latest technology in one of the largest financial institutions in the world. An IRS-Criminal Investigation (CI) ITS serves as a technical expert with substantial responsibility for providing guidance and assistance on designing, maintaining, and administering the CI IT network and automated IT systems residing within CI. The work involves the analysis of rapidly evolving network technology, and incorporation of technology with traditional business practices to develop plans for long-range implementation and administration, and to establish criteria to evaluate the effectiveness of current and future operations and programs.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS-13 LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. This experience must include Information Technology (IT) related experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication and 4) Problem Solving. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience that demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to the position to be filled. This knowledge is generally demonstrated through assignments that required the ability to analyze a number of alternative approaches in the process of advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design. This would include defining what system interrelationships must be considered, or what operating mode, system software, and/or equipment configuration is most appropriate for a given project.
At this level, your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate experience in training users in complex computer topics, experience in making presentations, experience in writing intricate system and user documentation, experience in the writing and explaining purchase justifications, experience with most aspects of the Windows Server operating system, experience with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments and concepts, and ability to independently administer computer systems or assist in the administration of large computer systems.
At this level, your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate experience in Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server and Active Directory, as well as IT technologies and strategies for IT network and system security.
- The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-timework; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.
