If you are selected for this position you will serve as a Field Automation Specialist at the Oberlin, Ohio, En Route Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC).You will be responsible for providing oversight and analysis of all facets of the automation systems related to Air Traffic Control (ATC) activity used in National Airspace System (NAS) operations.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to: 1) performing required research to identify, analyze, and resolve operational automation discrepancies. 2) developing, maintaining, testing, and modifying the adaptation database to assure that maximum effectiveness is achieved and that data is processed in a precise and timely manner. 3) coordinating with staff at local and other facilities regarding automation decisions and activities that affect operations. 4) communicating with other Second Level Engineering (SLE) representatives to manage software and adaptation requirements and to support second level support activities. 5) coordinating air traffic software adaptation changes and requirements with multiple air traffic control facilities, military base operations, airlines and international air traffic control organizations.
If you are selected for this position at the FV-J pay band, in addition to the above duties you will be serve as a Senior Field Automation Specialist at the Oberlin, Ohio, En Route Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC). Working with NAS software systems, applying technical automation and air traffic familiarization to resolve software problems, create and maintain the adaptation database and provide direct support to air traffic operations. You will work independently and will have the authority to make decisions related to the maintenance of adaptation and software systems critical to the safe operation of the NAS.

To qualify for this position at the FV-I, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H, FG/GS-10/12 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience on a team or a project in providing aviation software application support including developing system requirements, system testing and evaluation, system
integration and deployment, automation software adaptation, as well as resolution of technical issues. Experience with aviation site restoration including restoration plans, support, and communication.
