WHAT DOES A TAX LAW SPECIALIST (TAX EXEMPT BONDS) DO? As a Tax Law Specialist for the Tax Exempt Bonds program, you will be responsible for providing technical, analytical, and outreach activities directly related to the programs for which you are assigned. The work of this position includes organizing and administering the activities of the Bond Program to insure that customers are provided with appropriate guidance and assistance in helping them understand and comply with applicable tax laws, rules, and regulations. In this critical role, you will not only provide IRS tax compliance services, but will promote ongoing voluntary compliance with IRS tax system.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
GS- 13 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: demonstrated legal, tax accounting, or other experience that required knowledge of Federal tax laws, regulations, precedent decisions, or other areas related to the position to be filled.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
To be qualifying, your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate the following: Professional, comprehensive knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code, regulations, procedures, published rulings, and court decisions as they relate to tax exempt bond matters, sufficient to provide technical and analytical services to the Tax Exempt Bond program and related outreach activities; Comprehensive knowledge of analytical skills and abilities to analyze difficult factual situations and apply relevant legal and administrative authority; Ability to write and communicate orally complex technical positions effectively and persuasively; Networking and relationship building skills in order to develop and maintain effective liaisons with internal and external customers; Skill in establishing and maintaining effective customer relationships, dealing directly with others, leading discussions and conferences, and negotiating differences; and the ability to work independently and to plan work to maximize productive use of time.
- The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.
