The following are the duties of this position at the GS-12. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this developmental position.
•Conduct complex managerial and financial audits and special assignments to assess program efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with program laws, regulations and other provisions.
•Conduct valid and reliable research when analyzing internal and external information to assess risk factors and identifies high-risk areas.
•Document in audit workpapers the results of audit review, using correct formats, including source, purpose, conclusion, and results.
•Identify and apply complex specialized audit techniques to achieve audit objectives.
•Assume additional responsibilities on project(s), outside of assigned areas, or provides expert technical assistance on project(s) based on prior experience in audit areas.
Following the completion of program requirements, selectees may be considered for non-competitive conversion to a career-conditional or term appointment. All conversion requirements will be identified in the Participant Agreement. Program requirements include but are not limited to:

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
To be eligible for the Recent Graduates Program, applicants must have, within the previous 2 years*, completed all educational requirements for a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying institution; or intended graduation is no more than 9 months from date of application. (However, you must graduate prior to being appointed to the position. For more information on education requirements go to Treasury’s Pathways Program.
*Veterans who, due to a military service obligation, were precluded from applying to a Recent Graduates Program during any portion of the 2 year eligibility period may have their eligibility period extended so that they receive the full 2 years of eligibility. The remaining 2-year eligibility period will begin upon his or her release or discharge from active duty. The veteran's eligibility period may not extend beyond 6 years from the date of completion of all requirements of an academic course of study.
To qualify for the grade 7 level, you must meet the following requirements:
A. Education- In the Recent Graduates Program you may qualify based solely on education as follows: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society (or will attain any of these criteria within 9 months of application).

B. Specialized experience: You may qualify with one year specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Experience in applying knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, concepts and techniques to gather and analyze facts/data; And
-Ability to organize results of analysis to meet professional standards.

C. You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.
Successful completion (or complete within 9 months) of a full 4‐year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college‐level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: Twenty‐four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law; A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or Completion ( or will complete within 9 months) of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24‐semester‐hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full‐performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4‐year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Must successfully complete a background investigation.
• Public Trust – Background Investigation will be required.
