The incumbent is responsible for application of natural resource management and environmental science principles to the execution of a comprehensive surface protection and compliance program dealing with fluid minerals development in the Field Office. At the full performance level, duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Physical Demands: This position varies from principally sedentary in completing office phases of the duties assigned to performing field work. The field work will requires physical activity in driving and walking to, from and around locations in rough terrain, adverse conditions, and temperature extremes, such as heat in excess of 100 degrees F. and cold below -25 degrees F.

Basic Education Requirements: A. Degree: biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of education and experience--at least 24 semester hours equivalent to a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines relative to the position, plus appropriate experience and/or additional education.
Additional Requirements: In addition to meeting the basic education requirements described above, applicants must have at least one of the following:
For GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service. At this level the incumbent applies basic concepts, principles, and methodologies of the field. Example: compiling biological reports for review by higher graded specialist, analyzing environmental impacts, protecting environmental resources. - OR - One year (18 semester hours) of graduate level education DIRECTLY related to the work of the position - OR - A bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement that included coursework DIRECTLY related to the work of the position.
For GS-09: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. Such experience must demonstrate a working knowledge of the theories, principles, and techniques of natural resource management related to developing and monitoring mitigation stipulations for surface use activities. Example: conducting compliance and monitoring of energy and non-energy development for the protection of public land resources. - OR - 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree, if related.
For GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level. Such experience must demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of natural resource principles as they relate to developing and monitoring mitigation stipulations for surface use activities. Examples: analyzing and evaluating diverse environment conditions; analyzing biological components & processes in the context of ecosystems including environmental factors, physical-chemical & social relationships; and working as a member of an interdisciplinary team. - OR - 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled.
Equivalent combinations of post-high school education and specialized experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
