WHAT DOES A BUDGET ANALYST DO? As a Budget Analyst you will be responsible for providing leadership, coordinating budgetary functions and providing overall direction and guidance on these functions. In this position, you will perform a wide range of analytical, technical and advisory functions related to the budgetary process.
As a Budget Analyst you will:
Assist in work to be accomplished and communicate assignments, problems to be solved, issues, and deadlines.
Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques.
Maintain program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents.
Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information.
Represent the team for the purpose of obtaining resources and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on
major work problems and issues that arise.
Represent team findings and recommendations in meetings and deal with issues related to or that have an impact on the team's
objectives, work products and/or tasks.
Research a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness,
efficiency and work products.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
GS-13-LEVEL: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Knowledge of the federal budget process; Ability to interpret and apply budget instructions, administrative memoranda, and regulatory guidelines from a procedural, technical standpoint; Knowledge and ability to analyze detailed accounting and statistical information, process analysis tools and structured problem solving techniques; Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the full range of fiscal management budgetary functions and exercising judgment in planning and carrying out all phases of budget formulation and execution processes; knowledge of public laws, executive orders, OMB circulars and bulletins; and skill in using computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and communication programs and/or other applicable financial systems.
- The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis.
