You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: (All grade levels)
Four (4)-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus. OR
A combination of education and experience. The education must include courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. To be qualifying your experience may have included the following or must be sufficient demonstrate the ability to perform the following:
In addition to the above, you must meet the requirements described below:
GS-11 LEVEL: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Demonstrated professional and/or thorough knowledge of and/or the ability to apply: Methods and principles of economics and their application to research projects; Research and study design and administration processes; Economic significance of the information reported on the tax returns, tax laws and the impact of the proposed tax law changes on research projects; Developing, analyzing, and presenting statistical information; Laws, rules, regulations, and systems applicable to the area of responsibility; User oriented computer programming languages and statistical software packages; and skill in oral communications and descriptive report writing. OR
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in economics. OR
Three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in economics.
GS-12 LEVEL: In addition to the basic requirements you must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Demonstrated professional and/or thorough knowledge of and/or skill in applying: Methods and principles of economics and their application to research projects; Developing, analyzing, and presenting statistical information, recognizing and adopting new techniques to fit the needs of research projects. To be qualifying, your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform a variety of assignments on a research projects or programs where economic and statistical methodology were used to define, profile and evaluate market segments of taxpayers; Knowledge of user-oriented computer programming languages and statistical software packages; and skill in carrying out special assignments which need extreme precision in carrying out program assignments and resolving critical problems.
