- Performs economic analysis of the financial services industry, the financial markets, FDIC-insured commercial banks and thrifts, with particular emphasis on those developments impacting insured institutions operating in the region.
- Gathers and analyzes information pertaining to the performance of insured institutions and other developments affecting the deposit insurance funds.
- Investigates emerging issues and selected topics pertaining to the risk exposure of the deposit insurance funds.
- Compiles and supplies information for incorporation into studies, policy analyses, testimony, and other corporate documents.
- Assists in the use and enhancement of financial and statistical models; organizes data for effective presentation.
- Communicates about projects and findings to other divisions, supervisors and senior staff, orally and in writing.
- Represents the Division and presents information in various meetings or external working groups.
U.S. Citizenship is required.

1. Individual Occupational Requirements:
Basic Requirements
A. Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

2. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the Basic Individual Occupational Requirement, applicants must meet the defined qualification requirements listed below:
CG-09: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 07 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience collecting, compiling and analyzing economic data from primary or secondary sources; using statistical software programs to evaluate and manipulate economic data sets; and drafting reports to explain findings.
OR for the CG-9 grade level you may substitute education as follows:
1. You must have earned a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in economics or a related field.
2. Have a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements for the CG-09.
CG-11: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 09 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience evaluating economic data to identify risks and trends; using statistical software programs to evaluate and manipulate large and complex economic data sets; and preparing reports identifying economic risks and trends; and presenting findings.
OR for the CG-11 grade level you may substitute education as follows:
1. You must have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in economics or a related field.
2. Have a combination of education and experience that meets the requirements for the CG-11. You must have graduate level education as described above, beyond the 2nd full year of graduate level education and specialized experience as described above that together meet the qualification requirements for this position.
CG-12: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 11 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience analyzing comprehensive economic data to identify economic risks and trends; using statistical software programs to evaluate and manipulate large and complex data sets; creating or applying econometric models; and preparing reports identifying economic risks and trends; and presenting findings.
There is no substitution of education for the experience for the CG-12 grade level.
