The incumbent assumes a direct leadership role for the UM program and its staff, assigning workload, coordinating daily UM work flow, completing case reviews, managing human resources, modeling effective communication skills, and providing data collection and analysis to drive performance improvement.
The incumbent will model interdisciplinary collaboration, interfacing with various clinical staff to address daily patient flow issues.
The incumbent will complete a variety of performance improvement activities aimed at improving the facility utilization management program, including, but not limited to, performance measure tracking, provider education, completion of inter-rater reliability studies, data analysis, survey support, and systems redesign. The incumbent will use his/her leadership skills to lead informal ad hoc work groups and formal committee meetings.
The incumbent will serve as the content expert and program supervisor for the Utilization Management Program within the health care system. S/he will be assigned special reviews, and/or projects to meet the overall quality management needs of VA Central California Health Care System.
The incumbent will evaluate complex data and situations to determine facility priorities, using strong leadership skills and strategies to independently drive interdisciplinary change and improvement throughout the healthcare system.
Organizationally, the incumbent functions under the supervision of the Chief, Quality Management Service.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.
