Provides mail processing services for Region III Office and Resident Office sites. Receives, processes, x-rays, and distributes incoming mail. Sorts mail according to various NRC office locations to reach individuals assigned to these locations. Processes all outgoing Regional Office mail, according to weight, size, and class prior to metering and affixing correct amounts of postage and determines most cost effective means of shipment. Initiates response actions for suspicious packages. Operates and maintains the electronic mail metering equipment, including electronic scales for weighing letters, packages, and bulk mail. Coordinates with Headquarters and adds funds to the postage meters. Furnishes official use postage stamps to the Resident Offices, as needed, and maintains accountability for control of such stamps. Distributes incoming electronic mail from the RIDS Region III mail center account in the Region III RIDS mail box to the appropriate Division. Provides photocopying and distribution services for Regional staff in accordance with established procedures and deadlines. Prioritizes copying workload according to due dates established by the requester and with due consideration to other competing workload priorities (e.g. mail processing, etc.). Replenishes paper supply and toner in photocopiers and facsimile machine, clears paper jams, and arranges for technical servicing. Provides distribution and receipt services for incoming and outgoing expedited delivery products according to internal operating policy. Receives telephone calls and visitors, referring them to the proper individual based on knowledge of the operation of the organization. Personally responds to inquiries involving the Technology and Information Resources branch team function.
