The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is the principal advisor to the Under Secretary and Director on the application of information technology (IT) to support and improve the Agency’s business processes. The Office of Organizational Policy and Governance (OPG) provides the management and oversight of enterprise Information Technology (IT) strategies, guidance, policies, and agency-wide cybersecurity. This positon fall under The Cybersecurity Division who is responsible for all aspects of USPTO Information Technology security including the oversight for adherence to security-related laws and policies. This position is located in the CIO Cybersecurity Operations Branch that is responsible for monitoring the health, security and performance of all devices and systems on PTOnet and displays it in a Common Operational Picture (COP) to proactively prevent outages.
This position serves as a Information Technology Specialist in the CIO Cybersecurity Operations Branch this position is responsible for:
Ensuring the Shift Logs are maintained and written products are factually accurate.
Managing a shift of the network and security analysis.
Acting as the central Government Point of Contact (POC) and focal point for situational awareness, CIO internal communications, system event coordination, and information enterprise monitoring and security.
Coordinating incidents and outage restoration from cradle to grave in a 24 x 7 x 365 operations facility.
Recommending improvements to operational procedures for monitoring systems and responding to security events.
Executing procedures for investigating security events and incidents with the CIRT.

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position.
