The Medical Support Assistant (MSA) will provide administrative services. The MSA will be responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines. The MSA may schedule, cancel, and/or re-schedule Veteran's appointments and/or consults; enter no-show information; monitor the electronic wait list; prepare for clinic visits; monitor both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility; ensure encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit; verify and update demographics and insurance information; process all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals; perform basic eligibility, co-pays and prior authorization requirements for specific coverage. The MSA must provide excellent customer service and must adhere to VA local, National and Service policies and procedures.
