NIST PSG staff is responsible for providing leadership, command, and control of the law enforcement and physical security protection services implemented to safeguard property, equipment, material, sensitive documents and personnel of our clients that impact the Department and U.S. Government.
The ZS band IV is equivalent to the grades 07/08 on the GS pay scale. The ZS band 5 is equivalent to the grades 09/10 on the GS-pay scale.
If you are selected for a position with further promotion potential, you may be non-competitively promoted if you perform successfully and if recommended by management.
The salary range for Gaithersburg, MD is between $50,554 and $70,207. The salary of this position may exceed $70,207 up to $74,482 through pay for performance increases only.
The salary range for Boulder, CO is between $49,120 and $68,142. The salary of this position may exceed $68,142 up to $72,292 through pay for performance increases only.

SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires a SECRET CLEARANCE. Any required investigations and clearances must be completed before the selectee can be placed in the position.

Specialized Experience is experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Specialized Experience should include MOST of the following work activities such as, but not limited to: enforcing laws and regulations and law enforcement operations, practices or techniques that involve maintaining order and protecting life and property: and providing guidance on police, security, anti-terrorism and law enforcement policies and procedures.
MANDATORY COMPLETION OF BASIC TRAINING: Applicants who have satisfactorily completed a basic law enforcement training program provided by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center or an equivalent training program should provide a copy of your certification during the hiring process.
