NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
DUTIES: (1) Serves as the JFHQ-ST authority and expert on all matters involving force protection (FP) and anti-terrorism (AT) requirements, policy, procedures, program status and serves as the conduit of information between the intelligence community and local state and federal law enforcement. Serves as the focal point to coordinate, de-conflict, and integrate various force protection staff initiatives, policies, and activities within the state. Serves as consultant to the Adjutant General, JFHQ (St), and unit commanders on force protection. Establishes working relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies operating within the state on behalf of the Adjutant General.
(2) Receives filter, focus, and fuse information from military intelligence sources, publicly available information sources, and local, state and federal law enforcement sources to develop a clear understanding of real or potential threat to all state forces.
(3) Responsible for the overall implementation, oversight, and centralized control of the coordinated anti-terrorism and force protection program for the National Guard of the state.
(4) Serves on intra-agency or inter-organizational committees to identify and resolve or to assign responsibilities for resolving safeguards and security issues or to perform similar work assignments.
(5) Plans, conducts, directs the conduct of, or coordinates on site security studies, projects, assessments, and surveys of the State in relationship to anti-terrorism and force protection activities.
(6) Represents the Adjutant General at meetings, conferences, workshops, panels, etc., at NGB, MAJCOM, MACOM and other federal agency levels as the state force protection and anti-terrorism technical authority. Serves as the chairperson for various boards and working groups to include the Force Protection Board and Threat Working Group.
(7) Performs other duties as assigned.
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. In compliance with Title 32 United States Code, the compatible military skill set is determined by the applicable service manpower requirements. Upon selection, individuals are assigned to the authorized position and its compatible military skill in accordance with Air force skill classification directives, statutes, and National Guard Bureau regulations. The Dual Status technician must obtain and maintain all military skill requirements in regard to training, education, certifications, and experience.
