Greets and works directly with customers to set up appointments for automotive service repair and maintenance work. Demonstrates knowledge of automotive parts, equipment, and routine maintenance to initiate service agreements in compliance with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) regulations. Clearly writes service orders. Secures proper authorization from customers to perform specific service and/or repairs. Reports problems to the Supervisor.
Responsible for clarifying service order information to the responsible mechanics. Keeps mechanics informed of the status of parts delivery and customer needs. May confirm the status of work being performed and the impending completion of work in order to best serve the customer. Estimates pricing and notifies customer of cost incurred for work performed.
Researches automotive parts needed using industry manuals, books and computers. Locates sources to procure parts needed for repair and/or maintenance and ensures delivery or pick-up of merchandise is coordinated. Maintains records and tracks work orders to ensure customers vehicle(s) is available as agreed. Uses a computer to perform routine administrative duties. Responsible for notifying customers promptly of delays and other changes that may impact upon the initial service agreement.
Responsible for physically checking each customer vehicle to be serviced. This includes taking the odometer reading and looking for any physical defects, marks on vehicles, grease, and leaks to ensure quality control and guard against potential liability problems.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
EVALUATIONS:
Must have three years experience demonstrating general knowledge of automotive technology, terminology, and mechanical needs. Must have the ability to read and interpret automotive reference materials. Must be able to write work orders clearly. Must be familiar with PC's. Must be able to properly identify automotive parts needed and sources for procurement. Must be able to perform routine work independently and without detailed instructions. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
