Assembles, receives, disassembles, and inspects for damage reusable medical supplies, instruments, and equipment utilizing a full range of sets and trays used throughout the medical center including those used in the operating room.
Assemblies range from simple sets of four or five instruments to very complex sets of up to ninety instruments such as femoral vascular, abdominal vascular, chest set, thoracic, orthopedic, full mouth extraction, carotid vascular, etc.
Assembles delicate micro-surgical sets such as micro-surgical ear set, ENT plastic set for procedures requiring plastic surgery, micro-surgical eye instruments, etc.
Assembles and selects the correct sterilizing method for a variety of costly and delicate equipment such as flexible Bronchoscopes, Colonoscopes, Cystoscopes, Resectoscope, and other flexible and rigid endoscopes.
Thorough knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology is required so the incumbent is able to select the right instrument sets, packs, and specialized instruments to do the procedure with only the diagnosis or name of the operation to be performed available to him/her.
Receives contaminated supplies such as instruments, basins, syringes, needles, thermometers, and equipment from wards, operating rooms and clinics and inspects these items for damage and insures that they are in good working condition.
Articulates and communicates to the team the assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
Coach the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques.
Lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workload.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Weekends, Holidays, Rotating Shifts between the hours of 2:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
