Learn more about
The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is the data collection and dissemination arm of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. NASS gathers and publishes a vast array of information on every facet of U.S. agriculture, including production, economics, demographics, and the environment.
NASS has 12 Regional Field Offices across the country, each of which is responsible for the statistical work in several states. These Regional Field Offices regularly survey thousands of farm operators, ranchers, and agri-businesses who voluntarily provide information on a confidential basis. Consolidating these reports with field observations, objective yield measurements, remotely sensed observations, and other data, statisticians then produce state statistics. These statistics are forwarded to statisticians at NASS headquarters in Washington, D.C., to produce state and National reports for release to the general public.
