As an Instructor/Assistant Professor, you will teach undergraduate mathematics courses in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy, an accredited 4-year undergraduate college. Your primary teaching duties will be in our core program courses, including Mathematical Modeling and Introduction to Calculus, Calculus, and Probability and Statistics; you will also teach Mathematics elective courses. You will actively participate in faculty development, and will support the personal growth and development of cadets in and out of the classroom, as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service starting on or about 24 June 2019 and not to exceed 3 years.
Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Applicants will be evaluated on the following factors: 1) Academic accomplishment (an earned doctorate, completed by the start of the appointment, in mathematics, applied mathematics, operations research, statistics, or closely related field is preferred); 2) Ability to teach mathematics courses in the United States Military Academy core program and mathematics elective courses; 3) Demonstrated ability to actively participate in faculty development; and 4) Ability to support the personal growth and development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.
