As a SECURITY SPECIALIST, GS-0080-9 your duties are below;
Provide Physical Security (PS) training, guidance and assistance to all Iowa Army National Guard (IAARNG) units in developing robust PS programs at all levels. Responsible for developing the Physical Security portion of the annual IAARNG Command Readiness Guidance, and developing PS Command Inspection calls for IAARNG Company, Battalion and MSC level units. Perform Physical Security inspections and the PS portion of Command Inspections. Conduct Physical Security, Antiterrorism and Force Protection (AT/FP) reviews of all IAARNG construction projects (new Military Construction (MILCON) & remodel) and provide PS/AT/FP feedback to facilities. Provide support to the Provost Marshal by assisting with receipt, analysis and dissemination of law enforcement sensitive threat information to IAARNG units and law enforcement agencies.
Serves as a state Security Monitor. Coordinates security and intelligence matters to include review of state directives and regulations. Provides threat briefings for overseas travel. Advises on programs to include physical security, information on security, operations security, communications security, personnel security (high level officials), etc. Develops security plans and is responsible for the state security education program. Inspects facilities to ensure security program is operating effectively. Reviews specifications or proposed construction of facilities to ensure physical security standards are met. Advises on the implementation of the Risk Analysis Vulnerability Assessment Program.
Implements security regulations through spot-checks or random sampling of classified defense documents. Conducts scheduled and unscheduled security inspections. Evaluates clearances author ized to ensure clearance level st or management officials and personnel are commensurate with the information handled. Alerts personnel to the strict prohibition regarding improper use and abuse of the classification systems. Provides guidance on procession security violations. Prepares inspection reports. Prepares reports as required on security and intelligence issues on discrepancies found and corrective action to be taken.
Coordinates intelligence matters to include collection and evaluation of information for possible dissemination. Reviews intelligence and counter intelligence reports. Ensures appropriate personnel with a need to know are informed. Implements deception and counterintelligence measures as required.
Develops procedures on emergency removal of plans. Conducts special security surveys/inspections as required by the National Security Agency. Develops and publishes guidance. Conducts inspections and ensures compliance. Submits reports as required. Reviews job descriptions for security disposition. Advises and assists on personnel security issues. Ensures security clearance rosters are maintained and are current. Develops special security clearance requirements (Governor, etc.). Monitors security clearances.

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted position that requires military membership in a compatible military assignment in the Iowa Army National Guard. Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security clearance
Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university, with completed academic courses in sociology, criminology, police administration, criminal justice, or a related area, is optimum.
To receive credit for Education, you must provide college transcripts to support your Educational claims.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Employment is subject to attaining and maintaining a secret clearance as required by this position. If the selectee does not possess the applicable security clearance when hired, application must be made within 30 days of the start date. Failure to make application for the required security clearance will result in termination of employment.
Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at the PEC for new FTS personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination of FTS.
