State National Guard members
Oversee range activity as directed by the Range Control Manager. Oversee the scheduling of ranges via the automated Range Facility Maintenance Support System (RFMSS). Ensure all range operations are conducted to Department of the Army (DA) standards established by applicable DA weapon systems field manuals and technical manuals. Apply and enforce the Installation Range Safety Program. Ensure that adequate number of fully trained personnel are scheduled to support range operations and the communications center. Conduct and prepare installation capability briefings and tours as directed by the Range Control Officer. Interface directly with military, civilian and law enforcement agencies desiring to use the installation range complex. Oversee the work effort of employees who are involved in supporting the maintenance, operations, and communications center. Assume the duties of the Range Control Manager in their absence.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only. Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
Military Grades: Warrant Officer - WOC-W4 or Officer and OC-O3 only.
Compatible Military Assignments: OBR: 01A; WMOS: 011A; This PD is prohibited for Chaplains and Jags.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of the principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 must have at least 24 months experience, education or training in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda and developing administrative procedures. Experience in person-to-person contacts to convey information. Experience providing technical guidance and assistance in range operations. Familiar with and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of range management.
