The Insurance team is able to provide political insurance to all OPIC clients, regardless of size and industry, often in highly complex transactions. Interns will perform work that supports both the origination of new PRI contracts through the approval process as well as the monitoring of the existing PRI portfolio.
Interns on the Insurance teams serve as junior analysts and may be involved in all stages of project approval as part of a project team. Interns typically work on three to six transactions, depending on the complexity of the projects and the amount of time an intern is available. Typical duties include:
Applicants must be enrolled at least part-time in an accredited college or university in a relevant graduate degree program such as Finance, Accounting, International Affairs/Development or Economics.
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Political risk insurance (PRI) protects American investors and other international parties again certain political conditions such as the actions of a foreign government or of political situations that lead to civil strife. The Insurance team provides comprehensive, cost-effective and up to twenty year tenors of PRI and re-insurance. PRI products are available to U.S. investors, contractors, exporters and financial institutions which are involved in international transactions. Specifically, OPIC political risk insurance provides protection against currency inconvertibility, expropriation of assets and damage to assets due to political violence.
