The Nurse Practitioner (NP) would serve as Group Practice Manager (GPM) of a Primary Care clinic, providing management and leadership of interdisciplinary patient care services within the Division. The NP GPM will be responsible with the Nurse Operations Manager for the daily operations of the assigned practice group. The incumbent will be the first-line. supervisor for physicians and nurse practitioners within their practice group. Each NP GPM will be a member of the Primary Care Division Management Team, including both the GPM Management Group and the Primary Care Operations Group and be responsible for assigned clinical leadership duties.
The NP GPM will be attentive to the concerns and needs of staff members that garner involvement and participation in program development and decision-making, and later, implementation stages or phases. The incumbent is also knowledgeable and skillful in current labor relation practices and laws, and the concepts of AFGE Union partnership. Th·e incumbent will promote appropriate staff education and development programs, and demonstrate a commitment to professional enrichment, merit promotion, equal employment opportunity and positive labor relations. The NP GPM will be responsible for all supervisory · duties including, but not limited to: annual performance evaluations and addressing performance and conduct issues in a timely manner. The incumbent will be responsible for the time and attendance of all providers working in the group practice including leave planning, so that the clinic is adequately staffed during any time of operation.
The NP GPM will have responsibility for providing primary care to a defined panel or primary care patients. She or he is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to excellent clinical care. The incumbent will assure the policies, practices, and services within their group practice are consistent with the mission and vision of the Primary Care Division, the Portland VA Medical Center, the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 20- VA Northwest Health Network, and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Central Office. The NP GPM will work with other divisions within the medical center to achieve compliance with internal and external regulatory and accreditation standards; such as TJC and OSHA.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; varying tours

Physical Requirements: This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs.

Annual leave shall accrue for full-time Nurses, and Nurse Anesthetists at the rate of 8 hours for each full biweekly pay period.
