What does a Area Manager do?
As an Area Manager, you will be responsible for the direction and coordination of all administrative and clerical/program support services provided to Counsel offices nationwide. You will serve as one of several field Area Managers, and, as such, will be responsible for managing the delivery of F&M administrative and support services within an assigned geographic area and/or organizational component.

GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: having supervised a staff; provided information and assistance to management on administrative and program management procedures in areas of facilities, personnel, and budget, and able to provide expert advice in at least two of the aforementioned areas; conducted independent evaluations of administrative functions and recommended process improvements; implemented improvements to complex management processes and systems; resolved issues related to day-to-day administrative support services; developed and maintained working relationships with other organizations or major components within your organization.
In addition to the above requirements, you must have 52 weeks at the GS-12 level (time-in-grade requirement).

Specialized experience for this position includes: having managed front line supervisors; provided expert advice to leadership on administrative and program management procedures in areas of facilities, personnel, and budget; conducted independent evaluations of administrative functions and recommended process improvements; implemented improvements to complex management processes and systems; contributed diplomatically to the resolution of issues and/or conflicts between divisions within the enterprise; developed and maintained working relationships with other organizations or major components within your organization.
In addition to the above requirements, you must have 52 weeks at the GS-13 level (time-in-grade requirement).
The experience may have been gained in the public, private sector, or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
