The Fisher House(s) support the beneficiary population of the local medical treatment facility (MTF) and operates under the direction of the Program Manager, Army Fisher Houses, Headquarters, U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM).
The purpose of the Fisher House(s) is to provide temporary lodging - a "home away from home" - to family members of patients being treated at Army Fisher Houses. Residents of the Fisher House(s) are under great emotional and, frequently, financial stress due to their loved one's medical crisis. All staff members need to promote a caring, comfortable, and compassionate atmosphere in the houses and provide informal emotional support to families as needed.
