Assists to develop and administer an intramural sports program serving the needs of active duty military and their family members and other authorized patrons. Directs the conduct of leagues, tournaments and special events. Designs and maintains statistical records on teams and individual performance in all sports. Evaluates present programs. Prepares notices for sports programs to ensure that participants receive notice of sports programs to ensure exposure to and participation in the widest possible range of competitive, organized sports programs and events that provide essentia] leisure time recreational alternatives. Develops goals and objectives. Recommends changes to current programs or establishment of new ones.
Responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and dairy operation of assigned fitness facilities, which include gymnasium/sportsAndoor/outdoor facilities, parks, playgrounds, picnic grounds, shelters and vehicles assigned. Ensures that all facilities and services are efficiently scheduled, properly run and well maintained.
Serves as local sports authority on committees or other bodies engaged in developing programs designed to improve wellness of the military community served. Plans for and administers sanctioned matches, tournaments and leagues. Prepares leagues and tournament schedules, conducts draws and insures playing fields and facilities are properly prepared in accordance with rules for the particular sport
Responsible for coordinating team and individual sporting events, conducting sports clinics, coordinating sports officials, and providing assistance to youth sports programs as needed.
Conducts training for sports officials for scheduled sports through clinics and conferences and evaluates performance to maintain optimum professionalism and to provide guidance. Provides technical guidance and instruction to individual participants or groups engaged in fitness and sports activities in which incumbent is subject matter expert i.e. Softball basketball, football etc.
Provides input for and assists in the preparation of an annual expenditure budget Assists with the management, oversight and execution of the annual budget and submits purchase orders, vouchers, work orders and contracts. Assists with the establishment and maintenance of internal controls over sports property, equipment and supplies. Maintains all property management records hand receipt files and property location information.
Maintains records and files and is responsible for sports management correspondence. Provides input for reports as required by the command and higher authority. Maintains an up to date library of references and resource materials. Provides input to develop revisions, amendments and changes to local standard operating procedures and disposes of files, records and directives that are obsolete.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Must possess knowledge of Navy physical fitness standards and sports programming and be able to adapt standards to local applications with wellness of entire population being of primary concern and the skill in the application and utilization of such knowledge in planning and carrying out an enhanced sports program that meets as fully as possible the needs of the participating community.
Skill in the effective management of the financial and physical resources of the program. Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations relating to sports programming.
Skill in effectively organizing and utilizing available resources within the program framework of non-appropriated fund procurement and accounting procedures in order to prepare purchase order requests required to support programs. Detailed knowledge of financial recording of obligations incurred as part of the intramural program.
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability to effectively promote a safe and healthy sports program.
Must have the knowledge of Navy and local directives governing sports activities and the ability to enforce safety requirements as it relates to sports and the ability to enforce such requirements as warranted.
Must have the ability to speak effectively about the program and to motivate interested groups of active duty personnel and their family members in related activities and programs.
Must be a mature individual who can work with large groups of people or individuals as necessary.
Excellent written and verbal communication and interview skills are required to assess patron's, and assist with the promoting and marketing the program.
Must possess a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR AED, and First Aid certificates.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The incumbent is required to have an adequate level of physical fitness as position requires considerable walking, standing, kneeling, bending, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching and lifting of objects weighing up to 45 pounds, unassisted as necessary to perform and set up sporting events.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is normally performed in an office setting in the gymnasium with adequate light, heat and ventilation, however, depending on the sport being presented or hosted could be outdoors. Outdoor activities require the normal safety precautions typical with the elements of weather.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

A bachelors degree or higher in recreation, sports, fitness sports management or equivalent combination of education, training and at least two years of documented experience
