About the Position: This position is located at the Devens Reserve Forces Training Area (DRFTA), Devens, Massachusetts. DRFTA mission is to provide training facilities and support to all military services, reserve and active. It is a small base, located approximately 50 miles northwest of Boston, MA, in a small rural community. They offer many of the Soldiers' services found at larger bases including: Army Community Services (ACS), Fitness Center, the Federal Credit Union, and much more.

Specialized Experience/Education Statement:
Education: Applicants must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LL.B or JD). (NOTE: Applicants must submit/attach a copy of their Law School Transcript and if selected, original, official law school transcripts will be required to be mailed through surface mail). AND
Bar Membership: Applicants must currently be a member in good standing (as defined by the pertinent bar) of the bar of a State, Territory, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; (NOTE: Applicants must submit a copy of a certificate showing they are currently a member in good standing with the bar of a state, territory of the U.S., the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, together with a sworn statement by the candidate that his or her fitness to practice law or conduct as an attorney has never been challenged in any jurisdiction, OR if either has been challenged, a sworn statement concerning the facts and circumstances together with any explanation the applicant may deem appropriate. As an alternative to a sworn statement, a declaration under penalty of perjury may be submitted in the following format: I declare (or certify, verify or state) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the foregoing is true and correct . . . executed on (Date)(Signature of Applicant). this statement and certificate must be submitted/attached with your application/resume and dated within 3 months of the date your application/resume is submitted/attached.). Experience: Applicants must possess at least two (2) years of professional legal experience after admission to the bar, commensurate with the duties of this position - OR - possess at least one (1) year of professional legal experience after admission to the bar, commensurate with the duties of this position and graduation from an ABA-Accredited Law School in the top 25% of the class or an advanced law degree (Master of Laws (LL.M)). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
1. Knowledge and experience of U.S. Army Claims regulations and procedures is preferred, but not required.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and capability in the area of federal government labor and employment Law.
3. Demonstrated knowledge and capability in the area of federal criminal laws and procedures.
4. Demonstrated knowledge and capability in the areas of U.S. Army administrative law, federal government ethics and fiscal law.
5. Demonstrated knowledge and capability in the areas of Army legal assistance services as per Army Regulation 27-3.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
VETERAN'S PREFERENCE INFORMATION: There is no formal rating system for applying Veteran's Preference to Attorney appointments in the Excepted Service; however, the Department of the Army considers Veteran's Preference eligibility a positive factor for Attorney hiring.
