The VHEC (Veterans Health Education Coordinator) provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgment, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, or health counseling.

1. Approving official for fund control points. Manages Veterans Health Education & Information budget.
2. Development and delivery of Nursing Service Staff Veterans Health Education & Information
3. Actively participates in workshop / continuing education programs designed for career advancement.
4. Functions in classroom teaching environments, clinical arenas, and as a group facilitator. during training and implementation of changes in nursing related Veterans health education including computer applications.
5. The VHEC functions as the designated focal point, coordinator, advocate and liaison for all Veterans and family health education initiatives, programs, and activities.
