The Office of Consular Systems and Technology supports the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA) information technology efforts through the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of consular information technology systems, databases, and infrastructure. Consular Systems and Technology (CA/CST) develops, deploys, and supports complex IT solutions to automate the functions for the Department's visa, passport, and overseas citizens services operations, from concept to product, including research, design, development, testing, and launch. CA/CST also develops and implements standards for the Bureau's enterprise architecture, maintains the Consular Consolidated Database (CCD) for real-time access to visa and passport records worldwide, and monitors data quality and ensures system architecture meets current and projected requirements, applying leading-edge technology solutions for systems' performance and security.
The Service Operations (SO) Division within CA/CST is responsible for managing and operating CA’s production systems and the IT environment supporting them. CST/SO provides 24/7 Tier I Service Desk support for CA enterprise systems, and consolidated Tier II support of CA enterprise databases and applications. The SO division also provides IT infrastructure design, management, and systems administration of CA IT infrastructure installed at agency data centers, and oversees the work of onsite systems administrators at the domestic Passport Agencies and Centers. SO provides monitoring across all CA IT platforms to enable proactive management.
The SO division is comprised of three branches: Service Desk (SD), Applications and Database Services (ADS), and System Services and Operations (SSO). This announcement will be used to fill positions in the ADS Branch, and the SSO Branch. Positions in the ADS Branch will focus on management of the CA database and applications environment. Positions in the SSO Branch will focus on management and security of the IT environment on which CA databases and applications reside.
This position is eligible for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).
