The Dentist will work within the Dental Service Line for the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System includes Biloxi, MS; Mobile, AL; Eglin, FL; Panama City FL; and Pensacola, FL. The primary location for this position will be at the Pensacola location; however, incumbent may be required to work at other facility within the Health Care System to accommodate work load.

CLINICAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Examine, diagnose, develop treatment plans, and provide a comprehensive range of dental care.
2. Provide timely, accurate and complete record documentation utilizing the computerized medical record system utilized by the VA, and the computerized and other record systems used by the Navy.
3. Provide appropriate consults and referrals to medical and dental specialists.
4. Ensure that all patients meet the eligibility requirements for dental treatment.
5. Provide supervision in support of the Service Chief and Navy OIC for administrative staff, dental hygienists, dental laboratory technicians, and dental assistants.
6. Participate in clinical peer review as directed by the Service Chief.
7. Maintain current certification in BLS and if required ACLS to provide emergency medical management.
8. Provide clinical training for staff as indicated.
9. Responsible for managing consults from other services.
ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:
1. Coordination of patient scheduling to support all dental programs and consult requests.
2. Coordinate the Dental Supply and equipment orders with Acquisition and Material Management Service as well as the Navy supply chain.
3. Participate in management of the Dental Service Fee Basis Program.
4. Advises and assists the Chief in determining future budgetary, personnel, equipment and space requirements for the Service.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
