The Director of Accreditation, Patient Safety & Risk Management is responsible for providing leadership, direction, organization, planning and implementing Quality Management programs and services at VA Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS). The incumbent will have responsibility for the ongoing operations, development and monitoring of certain programs within the Quality Management Service as well as the supervision of staff within those programs.

The incumbent will be responsible for the facility-level coordination and monitoring of the Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance Program, including leadership activities which prepare staff to meet performance expectations of The Joint Commission, the VA Office of the Inspector General (VA Inspector General Combined Assessment Program), Long Term Care Institute (LTCI), Commission on Accreditation and Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), as well as other accreditation and regulatory compliance bodies. The incumbent will develop and modify appropriate strategies to monitor these programs and will coordinate operational plans to achieve associated performance improvement goals. The Director of Accreditation, Patient Safety & Risk Management is responsible for ensuring the continuation of all program components including, Accreditation, Patient Safety, Risk Management, and in the absence of the Chief of Quality Management, will also provide supervision for Performance Measurement and Management, Operations, System Redesign, and Credentialing/Privileging staff (as assigned).
The incumbent will have leadership responsibilities in the implementation and maintenance of the continued readiness/accreditation preparation program, patient safety, and risk management as they fall under the Quality Management domain, which includes the direct supervision of the Quality Management employees assigned to those programs (i.e., Patient Safety Manager, Risk Manager, Quality Consultants, Program Analyst, and supportive Program Support Assistant).
The incumbent will also participate in internal investigations as necessary. Achievement of these responsibilities will require strong skills in: data extraction, evaluation and trending; chart review; leading ad hoc task groups and meetings; teaching; electronic data reporting; development of spreadsheets, tables and graphs; presentation development; priority-setting and critical thinking skills; the ability to facilitate change and improvement using principles of Systems Redesign and similar methodologies; strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
The incumbent will also serve as Acting Chief of Quality Management Service as necessary.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm
