The District of Minnesota is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for a temporary Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) position in our Civil Division. The position is assigned to the Asset Forfeiture (AF) Section where the attorney will litigate the forfeiture of seized assets and also assist with the efforts to ensure that forfeited assets are restored to victims. This is a temporary position not to exceed 1 year. This position may be extended or made permanent without further competition, depending on the federal budget and staffing levels.
The Asset Forfeiture Section performs financial investigations of criminal targets and defendants, prepares warrants authorizing the seizure of assets, and litigates cases involving the forfeiture of assets seized as proceeds of illegal activities and/or property that facilitated or was involved in certain criminal violations. The Asset Forfeiture Section handles civil forfeiture cases and participates in the forfeiture portion of criminal prosecutions for a wide variety of violations, including narcotics trafficking, money laundering and fraud schemes.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Salary Information: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $65,463.00to $164,100 which includes 23.37% locality pay.
