GS-11: In order to qualify for the GS-11 grade level, your resume must reflect one year of full time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in Federal service; OR A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., with major study in safety, occupational health, or industrial hygiene, or closely related disciplined.
Specialized Experience for GS-11: Defined as experience: (1) managing safety or occupational health program elements in a construction or industrial type environment; (2) inspecting or surveying construction or industrial work sights or processes for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential hazards; (3) applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices, and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health in a construction or industrial activity; AND (4) conducting safety accident investigations, determining root cause and factors, and developing and implementing preventative mitigation strategies.

Probationary Period: Placement in this position requires you to complete a one-year probationary period.
Working Conditions: The incumbent performs onsite evaluations and inspections of construction sites, operation and maintenance projects and various facilities requiring extended periods of walking, standing, and climbing. Field work may include rough terrain, cold weather, extreme high temperatures, underground work and exposure to high electrical energy.
Pre-employment Physical: If selected, you are required to obtain and successfully pass a pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying to your ability to perform the duties of the position. This is not required if a comparable examination was required for placement in your current position and was completed within the last year; however, verifiable documentation of a comparable physical is required. Periodic (annual or biennial) physical examinations are required to be successfully passed for continued employment.
