This position is located in the Secretary's Detail Division (SD), Office of Protection (P), Domestic Operations (DO) Directorate, Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS), Department of State (DoS). The purpose of the Secretary's Detail is to provide the Secretary of State and other designated individuals with a comprehensive range of protective services that ensure the safety and security of those protected in both domestic and foreign settings. These services include the operation of a standing, continuous 24‑hour protective detail for the Secretary of State.
This position is eligible for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).

-Estimates and ensures the availability of appropriate personnel, equipment, and fiscal support required to execute approved operational protection plans.
-Defends formal budget program requests to DS officials using personnel, funding, equipment, contractors, and office space as considerations; and provides justifications for major logistical program changes.
-Forecasts and monitors the availability of resources required to support future operations under varying threat scenarios.
-Plans, manages, organizes, coordinates, and directs all activities related to the Secretary’s Detail. Such and planning and implementing protective measures required by the Secretary’s official and unofficial appointments, and all activities in which the Secretary would be involved.
-Provides subject matter expertise and guidance on a broad range of security, administrative, and resource issues to senior level management, on issues related to security, protection, and/or other law enforcement issues.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
