The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) is a major element of RDECOM and partner in the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command. As a full life-cycle engineering support provider of first choice for all DOD Ground combat and combat support weapons and vehicle systems, TARDEC develops and integrates the right technology solutions to improve current force effectiveness and provide superior capabilities for the future force. This position is with the Research and Technology Integration Software, Software Engineering Lifecycle Support Directorate.
Serves as a senior engineer responsible for conducting, monitoring, directing and coordinating research, design, development and engineering activities related to software for electronic systems on assigned technology areas which are applied across vehicle system lines and/or on emerging or fielded components, subsystems and total systems. You will perform duties that require professional knowledge of the principles, theories, and methodology of software engineering, software development and computer science, embedded systems electronics integration and test, combined with related knowledge gained through job experience and/or training to provide Life Cycle Software Engineering (LCSE) and management services to military ground systems. Knowledge and skills to model, architect, design, develop, code, integrate, and test vehicle software for use within military ground vehicles.

Specialized Experience:
In addition to the basic education requirements for the disciplines identified above, applicant must also meet the one year of specialized experience in some of the following for this position. Specialized experience is defined as: Professional knowledge and application of Software Development and the principles, theories and methodologies of software engineering; software development, computer science, embedded systems, electronics integration relevant to Life Cycle Software Engineering and management as it applies to vehicle system lines, and or components, subsystems and total systems; the ability to model, architect, design, develop, code, integrate and test vehicle software for use with military ground vehicles utilizing high order programming languages.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
